Most vehicles need an oil change every 3,000 miles, unless otherwise specified by the manufacturer (check your owner’s manual if you’re not sure—or give us a call). It’s important to keep a regular schedule because oil changes keep dirt and contaminants from prematurely wearing out your engine. They also remove heat from the engine, further extending its life. What Kind of Oil Does Your Vehicle Need?
Your owner’s manual probably specifies what type of oil you should use when the car is young, but your vehicle’s needs may change over time. Older vehicles may eventually need higher viscosity oil because engine parts don’t seal as tightly as they once did, and thick oil doesn’t leak as readily thin oil. For some older models, we may recommend a synthetic blend or full synthetic oil because it does a better job of adhering to upper engine parts when the vehicle isn’t running. Synthetics can also survive higher temperatures in older engines that burn some oil.
Our service technicians are familiar with all makes and models, and will make recommendations based on the type of vehicle you have, as well as its age.
What Does an Oil Change Include?
Our technicians do more than change your oil. They also take the opportunity to look your vehicle over for any glaring problems you should be aware of. This is a free service in addition to the oil change itself, which includes:
- Replacing your oil and filter with proven products
- Recycling your old oil
- Inspecting other filters on the vehicle
- Filling the window washing fluid reservoir and checking other fluid levels
